He turns plastic into sculptures. The artist Gerhard Bär wants to change the way we look at our waste and therefore the way we look at the world. Because that is the beginning of every change. Gerhard Bär has collected plastic bags from all over the world, and over the years has created a repertoire of several hundred thousand pieces. The bags are his raw material, and he uses them to create collages, sculptures and furniture. At the international furniture fair in Milan, things went so well that large design collections bought his objects made from rubbish. From the Vitra Museum in Weil am Rhein to the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. And Gerhard Bär is setting up small workshops in many places where people are creating something new from plastic waste. Designer and artist Gerhard "Woody" Bär is a guest on SWR1 Leute.
